A Matthew Rhys se le ha podido ver recientemente actuando en el Royal Shakespeare Theatre en Romeo y Julieta en el papel de Romeo, e interpretando a Edmund en El Rey Lear. Habiendo estudiado en la Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Rhys ha sido el protagonista de numerosas producciones de teatro, televisión y cine. Entre sus créditos cinetográficos podemos encontrar Fakers de Richard Janes, Abduction Club de Steven Schwartz, Sorted de Alex Jovy, Whatever Happened to Harold Smith de Peter Hewitt, Titus dirigida por Julie Taymor y House of America, de Marc Evan. Entre sus producciones teatrales cabe destacar El graduado junto a Kathleen Turner en el Gielgud Theatre, The Associate en el National Theater y en Stranger House de Mary Peate y One More Wasted Year, ambas en el Royal Court.
