Ian Anderson comenta: "Tras haber visitado Jerusalén para dar conciertos y, en general, Israel, en numerosas ocasiones desde 1986, yo, como gran parte del mundo, he sentido una creciente angustia por los dilemas políticos, sociales y culturales que enfrenta la región. Tras una o dos primeras visitas, decidí seguir actuando allí, pero donando todos los beneficios a diversas ONG locales: principalmente a aquellas que apoyan la coeducación de árabes, judíos y cristianos, a menudo con un sesgo musical.
La profunda y compleja historia de Jerusalén, brillantemente narrada en el libro 'Jerusalén: La Biografía' de Simon Sebag Montifiore, sería mejor leída por muchos que adoptan una perspectiva simplista y se posicionan en posiciones opuestas. Montefiore se refiere al 'Síndrome de Jerusalén', que resume bastante bien mis propias opiniones, algo atormentadas.
Sigo sintiendo una profunda reverencia y preocupación por el futuro de una de las ciudades más importantes de todos los tiempos y su lugar crucial en el mundo actual. Digo en la última línea de la canción: 'No he superado Jerusalén'. Como una trágica historia de amor, sigue siendo un recuerdo que el tiempo no puede borrar. Ni me hables de Moscú ni de Kiev…".
