Escrita por Rodrigo junto al habitual Dan Nigro (Conan Gray, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lewis Capaldi), quien también se encarga de la producción. Con efecto retroactivo se acredita como compositores a Annie Clark, Jack Antonoff y Taylor Swift, por utilizar elementos del tema 'Cruel summer', incluido originalmente en el álbum Lover de Taylor (2019).
"El concepto de deja vu siempre me ha fascinado y pensé que sería genial usarlo en una canción sobre los sentimientos complejos después de que termina una relación", dice Rodrigo.
