Producida por Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys and Wolf Alice), tiene un título que se explica por sí mismo; es una canción de amor real, que despoja al amor de su naturaleza romántica idealista y deja al descubierto la realidad no correspondida o dolorosa que muchos experimentan: "Tengo algo contigo y no desaparecerá".
La banda dice: "Un entrevistador en Kuala Lumpur nos preguntó por qué no tenemos una gran cantidad de canciones sobre relaciones o amor. No habíamos pensado en ello antes. La respuesta fue que canciones como esa se han hecho hasta la muerte y rara vez capturan lo que el amor es en realidad para la mayoría. Las canciones tienden a ser idealistas o de Hollywood. 'Real love song' fue un intento de escribir una canción sobre el amor desde una perspectiva autoconsciente. Es sobre el lado oscuro del amor, el doloroso y no correspondido.
